NEONCard / Field guide
Read a gift card exchange quote correctly
A gift card's balance and its exchange payout are different amounts. NEONCard's quote screen shows the submitted card value, a percentage exchange rate, and the calculated payout together. Understanding that relationship helps you compare an offer without confusing a card's original purchase price, its remaining funds, and the amount proposed for an exchange.
Start with the correct balance
The value entered in Select Card is the value used to calculate the quote. A partially spent card does not have its original face value available. Where a partially used option is available, identify the remaining balance through the issuer's official balance-checking channel without redeeming the card as a test.
The form shows a minimum for the selected brand and a maximum value. A quote request below the applicable minimum produces an error. Check the current selection rather than assuming that a minimum for one retailer applies to every other card.
Separate percentages from money
The quote calculation multiplies the entered card value by the exchange rate. A percentage describes the proportion of the entered value, not a separate cash bonus or a foreign-currency conversion. The You'll Receive figure is the money amount displayed for that calculation.
Brand tiles use 'Up to' wording, while the quote screen displays an exchange rate for your request. Review the actual quote before proceeding. The Terms of Service allow exchange rates to change, so an old screenshot or a previous transaction should not replace a current quote.
- Confirm the selected product matches the card you hold.
- Compare the quoted value with your balance evidence.
- Read the payout amount as well as the percentage.
- Keep the quote details with your transaction notes.
Know what the calculator does not establish
A quote does not verify ownership, activation, card authenticity, readability of evidence, or redemption restrictions. Those details are not established merely because a calculation appears. Do not interpret a successful quote as confirmation that every card with the same brand name is eligible.
The form does not provide a currency or issuing-country selector. If your card uses a different currency or has a regional restriction, ask support what applies before entering an assumed converted value. A dollar symbol alone does not settle that question.
Resolve uncertainty before trading
If the offer, minimum, or product label is unclear, pause and ask support with the brand, format, value, and non-sensitive region information. Ask any fee question explicitly instead of inferring a fee policy from the calculator. After submitting, use the transaction's recorded amounts when discussing that particular trade.
